  • Hannah Hossack-Lodge from Domestic Gothess

Im Hannah and food makes me happy. My favourite way to spend the day is in the kitchen baking. I grew up with a father who loved to cook anything and everything, and a mother who made and decorated amazing cakes and gingerbread houses so my interest in baking was encouraged from an early age. I was given free run of the kitchen to make what I liked…so of course everything was dyed bright colours, filled with marshmallows and covered in sprinkles and glitter…I like to think that my baking style has gotten a little more sophisticated since then…

To make thai spiced cashew butter I used my new Froothie Optimum 9400 power blender which made extremely light work of the task. What usually takes 10-15 minutes in a regular food processor took merely a couple of minutes in the Froothie. I have had the Optimum 9400 for quite a while now but it has taken me some time to get round to writing a review of it; that does mean that I have had a good chance to put it through it’s paces first however! It takes literally 30 seconds or less to grind nuts or oats down to a fine flour (if you want them chopped rather than blended to dust simply use the pulse function instead), and only a little longer to turn that flour into creamy nut butter. You can even use it to make soups and custards right in the blender – with prolonged blending (4-6 minutes) it heats the ingredients so there is no need to pre-cook! ....Click here.

"The Optimum 9400 is designed to bring professional level specification into your own home. I use my blender several times daily and it comes with me on my nourishing cookery days. This is one of the most powerful blenders on the market and I have really put it through its paces. Whether you want to make super healthy smoothies, dips and spreads, soups, desserts, nut milks, nut and seed flours, nut butters, instant healthy ice cream and sorbets this will do it all for you!"

"I have the Optimum 9400 blender and Optimum 400 slow juicer. I use at least one of them every day for juices, smoothies, soups, sauces and desserts. I love their power, the quality of the result I get and they are so quick and easy to clean. Before I start cooking I always stop to think "Can I speed this up with my Froothie?"" Read More

"So let me tell you a bit about the Optimum 9400 blender. It happily stands up against its main competition - Blendtec and Vitamix - and in fact outperforms them in many categories. For example, it can spin faster than both, and has more blades - which means it takes no time at all to get a perfectly smooth result. It took just seconds to get my banana smoothie nice and creamy!"Read More

"I do have a blender from a well known designer brand, and often make spreads and dips such as Hummus but noted in comparison that it did not offer the same creamy smooth bit-free that I got from the Optimum 9400. The other thing I noted immediately is that majority of the blenders that I have used in my life would take a good 10-15 minutes in reaching the point of creamy smoothness, as well as a lot of stopping and scraping down of the blitzed vegetables from the sides. The time was massively reduced with the Optimum 9400 blender.    "Read More

"Now, if you have been following my blog for a while you have probably also noticed a distinct lack of smoothie and beverage recipes. This is not down to not liking smoothies, I love them, I just haven't had a good enough blender to get the perfect consistency I like.

Until now that is. The lovely folks at Froothie sent me their Optimum 9400 to review and folks, I am in love! "Read More

"This morning I used it to blend soaked cashews into a creamy purée to make into vegan cheese (an experiment – I will report back on this!) and as I type I’m sipping on my deliciously smooth liquid breakfast of 2 whole carrots, 2 whole apples, a handful of spinach, a slice of lemon and water/ice to thin. It took a matter of seconds to make and there are absolutely no lumps whatsoever."Read More

“Consider a high-powered bender as an investment in your health!… Other Things I like about it are the jug is BPA-free, it’s easy to clean, comes with a tamper (perfect for blending ultra-thick purées), it even has little cable clips which means it’s neat and tidy on the countertop. I use my blender every single day! You CAN probably get along just fine with a basic blender for most things but it may not blend vegetables like kale or fruit like dates as smoothly as you’d like. A high-powered blender also opens up a lot of fun possibilities so you can’t help but eat healthily!”Read More

"The Pulse function is a good way to keep control over what you are processing and to not 'over process'. For example, if you popped some peanuts into the jug and wanted them rough ground for a Thai style salad dressing, due to the power of the blades within no time you'd have peanut butter! Instead, whizz the peanuts in bursts using the pulse and you have complete control over the texture of the nuts. Overall verdict, rather impressed with my Froothie…"Read More

"The reason power blenders such as Vitamix and Froothie’s Optimum 9400 are great for making custard is that you can throw all the ingredients in to the blender jug, switch on and gradually ramp up the speed to its highest setting. Simply leave the blender running for several minutes; the speed of the powerful blades generates enough heat to cook the custard. Believe me, after 7 minutes, our custard was steaming hot! And because we had confidence in the power of the blades, we dropped the solid pieces of white chocolate straight into the hot custard and blended again. The Optimum 9400 blades broke the chocolate down quickly and the heat melted and combined it thoroughly into the custard base."Read More

"Being a fairly methodical person I really wanted to make sure that I had run it through its paces before I passed on my assessment. And I wanted to do a couple of side by side challenges against my Vitamix to see how my two machines compared.
Formyhead-to-headchallenges I made today’s smoothie, a double batch of beetroot and cashew hummus, some frozen yogurt and sunflower seed butter. Both machines performed very well – as would beexpectedofhigh level machines. But there are a few points that may tip the balance in the Froothie’sfavour:
            1. cost
            2. quietness
            3. ease of blending
            4. blending time

"Helping me along the road to smoothie heaven is my new little friend; he’s been part of the family for a couple of weeks now and he’s fitted in just fine. Welcome Optimum 9400 ! He sounds a bit like a Transformer, a Good Guy Autobot of course; but actually he’s a super duper blender from Froothie, and I love him!
Whilst the Optimum can handle everything from strawberries to paving slabs; I’ve been mainly blitzing fruit, some protein shakes and indulging in my caffeine addiction with skinny caramel frappuccinos. They’ll all be coming up soon. But I also want to but the Optimum to the test with a load of other things it can do including:"

"In the meantime I’ve also received a Froothie Optimum 9400 machine. Preparing Curd in the old-fashioned way is a pain. Suddenly life became much easier with the Froothie. It's a matter of peeling the kiwis, separating the eggs and measure out the ingredients and placing everything in the jug. You'll end up with the maximum setting of 10. This is when you leave the machine alone to work it's magic for a full 5 minutes and stare in wonderment how you lived without one for all these years. What I found particularly fascinating is how the contents start to heat up after a few minutes, thus cooking the eggs." Read More

"As many of you know, I’ve been a devoted user of the Vitamix for years, so when the opportunity came along to try out the Froothie Optimum 9400 Blender I felt a little bit like I was cheating on an old and very dear friend. But I decided to have an open mind and see what this new kid on the block could do. A few weeks ago I stashed away my Vitamix and replaced it with the Froothie to see how it worked for my daily blending needs.
Daily? That’s right. I’m a pretty heavy blender user – I make smoothies for breakfast every day and often (at least once per week) use the blender for other tasks such as pureed soup, custard for ice cream, almond milk and cashew gravy. So far it's been a stellar performer and performed at least as well as the vitamix. If it excels in one area I'd say it's noise: the Froothie is noticeably quieter than my Vitamix. I also like the clear jug."Read More

"Froothie have come up with a powerful mean machine called Optimum 9400 which will blast any ingredient and blitz it to a delicious purée in moments, furthermore it crushes ice like it cutting through butter, it chops, grates, grinds and whips and you can use it with wet or dry ingredients in it without buying a separate jug. It also makes instant ice creams for the summer and warm soups for the winter so you can make use of it the whole year around."Read More

"At first glance this sturdy blender with its 2 litre capacity is similar in appearance to the Vitamix, but in fact the engine is more powerful and slightly quieter (a big bonus!). For us though, the best thing is the blade – the Froothie blender has a 6 blade assembly, 4 facing up and 2 down. Why is this good? because when you are only blending small quantities, you get more a more efficient chopping of the ingredients than blenders with only upward facing blades (Vitamix included)."Read More

"As the machine has a very powerful motor, it won’t burn out like other cheaper alternatives. Have a look at the specifications of the optimum 9400 macine compared to the Vitamix, another blender on the market.
The Optimum 9400, which is available at a special introductory price, also has a 10 year extended warranty so you can be rest assured you will be using it for years to come. The cost is really good value when you consider cheaper models won't do a fraction of the things a 9400 will and it is considerably less expensive than other high-end blenders which can retail up to £600. "Read More

"I am trying to eat healthier lately and so I decided that I would just throw some frozen berries into the Optimum 9400 along with some milk and a bit of honey, plus some vanilla. A milk shake has to have vanilla! I also added a bit of lemon juice to keep the colour nice and pink. In less than two minutes I had the most delicious, creamiest milkshake I have ever eaten. No kidding! It had a beautiful thick texture. Just look at that . . . and the taste. It was seriously delicious! I haven't enjoyed my breakfast so much in a long time and I absolutely loved the fact that I was drinking/eating something which was quite healthy and yet seemed totally luxurious!"Read More

"My second secret bug-fighting weapon has been my Froothie Optimum 9400 – a power blender that I’ve been trying out recently to make blended soups, smoothies and homemade raw dips and nut butters……..I’ve also found that since the Froothie Optimum 9400 can handle raw ingredients, including vegetables, nuts, seeds and all kinds of fruit, you are literally only ever a few minutes away from a cup of something tasty and nutritious in the form of a soup or smoothie. My little girl has discovered a love of soy milk (which she calls soil milk!) so I’ve also been making lots of milkshakes and smoothies with frozen bananas and a pinch of cinnamon or cocoa……
So, I’m very happy with my Optimum 9400 and there are still many more recipes to try''. "Read More

"The Optimum 9400 blender is sensational, I can do so much with it, which is awesome. I was used to another super powerful blender and I could compare both quite well. Let’s start with my review:
The Optimum 9400 has six blades instead of the regular 4 that you can find in most super powerful blenders and that makes everything you blende smoother and creamier.
You can do toppings and filing for cakes, nut butter, nut milk, green juices, smoothies, cheesecake and even bread. I’ve once done a soup in less than 10 minutes and it was super hot. I know how crazy is that.
The powerful motor has 3 high speeds which allows you to do ice cream and soups.
The jug is Heat-Resistant BPA free with 2l capacity.
The blender also has a Built-in sensor to detect over-usage; prolonging life of blender'' Read More

"The Froothie with the optimum 9400 has seriously revolutionised some of my recipes, particularly my nut based dishes that benefit from having a silky smooth texture. I like to say my cashew creams and cheeses are now 'next level' smooth thanks to its unmatchable power. It even took centre stage at my Husband's Mexican themed birthday party thanks to some particularly awesome frozen margaritas - people still talk about them today."

I have only had an opportunity to use the product briefly so far but have been impressed by its efficiency. I use it to blend meals for giving to my child via his gastrostomy feeding tube.
I would recommend it to other feeding tube users.

The G21 is an excellent blender. I am using it domestically as a keen and experienced cook, but it would be fine in a pro kitchen. It makes velvety, hot enough to serve, soups much better than I expected. I also use for making healthy smoothies, and sorbets. Have also used it for making sauces. It stays out on the work-surface as it is used regularly. It replaced a Waring heavy duty blender and is a superior tool.

Used for smoothie blending.

I think the screen display menu items are limited - for example what it Fruit? Does it mean Fruit Smoothie?

Also, the numbers clock is also confusing, countdown on right but on the left not sure what it means...

The quality of the product is reasonably good for the price.

I am a little frightened by how powerful the machine is, but getting used to it as the touch pad system helps to overcome that fear. Yes i would recommend the product, it's incredible. Many better features with the jug and better care/instructions mean our jug will last longer and the machine seems more foolproof. We love it for soups, veg juices/smoothies, and grinding herbs and onions, pestos etc every now and then.

Used to make nut milks & butters, smoothies and soups. Grinding nuts, grains and oats etc. into flour is a total breeze. Done in seconds!
Haven't tried sorbets or ice-creams yet as I've got a dedicated machine for that already, but I'm sure they'd come out well.
Will be having a lot more hot soups in near future while kitchen is gutted and refurbished. Look forward to trying more recipes from the accompanying handbook and the many recipes on the Froothie website.
Top quality product; sturdy, user-friendly and best of all... easy to clean!
A staple on my countertop! Absolutely love my G2.1.

This really is an inredible blender, and im sure it outclasses most of the other well known brands.
I would recommend it to anybody looking to make good, wholesome, healthy foods.i would love to be able to send 1 to my dad in south africa as he is a great cook and he has been through many blenders and he would go crazy for a quality high powered blender, unfortunatly they are extremely expensive there.
All in all,its a great product and im very happy with my choice, and very happy with the money i saved in comparison to other brands.

Used optimum g2.1 for ice cream, pesto, thick wet mixes, vegetable soups and carrot juice.
It's a beast in terms of power and pulverises whole carrots and water into a fine whole juice. It's not the same as a juicer as pulp is of course in it but it does it as fine as the vitamix I think. I will add pineapple next time to give it a more sweet taste. Soup with carrots and tomatoes came out very smooth. Fresh tomatoe passata also very fine - can only see fragments of the seeds when you put it through a sieve. Only drawback is that there are holes drilled in the plastic jug base and when you wash the jug then water goes through the holes and then you have to dry the inner base that sits on the motor - only an issue if you are going to make something straight after washing it. It's just fiddly to dry the inner base due to the inner plastic tubes. I have made pesto with walnuts and it's very smooth - used the help of the tamper. Thin dressing with cashew nuts came out very smooth. Ice cream with frozen strawberries and ice cubes was very good also - blended very well and smooth - could only see specks of the strawberries as evidence of what was used. Thick wet mixes of soaked grains like rice come out smooth - used tamper to help. Because of the cleaning (you put it back on the base with water and washing up liquid and run a cleaning cycle for 30 to 90 seconds) I would prefer to use a smaller personal size blender for small portions as they are easier to clean. But if you want larger portions this is great.

We use our machine in a coffee shop so it deals with high demand; especially in the current hot weather. The machine copes much better than our original commercial blendtec machine and is much quieter.

I use the blender professionally and can honestly say it is the best high speed blender I've had the pleasure of working with. It is reliable and does everything it says on the box.
In comparison to other high speed blenders that I've used, it is quieter and makes easy work of just about anything: think nut butters, smoothies, healthy snacks.
